Free Choice Friday

FAN seeks volunteers to provide instruction in the arts, sports, and other interest areas to youth ages 10-18 on "Free Choice Fridays" in our after school program.

Start and End Dates: May 5, 2014 - June 5, 2014 Group Size: 10-18 Time Commitment: One time workshop Times: 4:30-6:30pm Day(s) of week: Friday Location: Fort Stanton Recreation Center [su_spoiler title="Learn More & Apply"]

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with youth ages 10-18. - Provide instruction to groups of 5-15 young people in one or more of the following areas:
  • • Visual arts (painting, drawing, photography)
  • • Performing arts (music, drama, dance, MCing, DJing)
  • • Sports (martial arts, tennis, double dutch)
  • • Other areas (computers, chess, debate, drill team, cooking)
- Instructional areas are limited only by your creativity! - Work with mentoring staff to support youth development and character education. - Former foster youth are strongly encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • • An understanding of youth development concepts or the desire to learn
  • • Passion for area of instruction
  • • Experience in planning and implementing educational programs
  • • Ability to initiate and sustain collaborative relationships
  • • Respect for diversity and differences among youth, families, and communities
  • • Ability to plan and implement activities consistent with the needs of youth and in the context of available resources
  • • Creativity and flexibility

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • • At least 18 years of age
  • • Police record, and child abuse clearance
  • • After School Instructor

After School Instructor

FAN seeks part time instructors to provide instruction in the arts, sports, dance, music, nutrition, and other interest areas to youth ages 10-18 during our after school program.

Start and End Dates: May 9, 2014 - June 6, 2014 Group Size: 8-10 Time Commitment: Weekly or Monthly Times: 5:30-6:30pm Day(s) of week: Negotiated at time of hire Location: Fort Stanton Recreation Center [su_spoiler title="Learn More & Apply"]

Tutoring

FAN seeks volunteers to serve as one-on-one tutors to middle and high school age youth in foster care in our after school programs. Tutors are responsible for assisting participants with their homework, and providing enrichment/remedial instruction to participants who do not have homework or in subjects where participants are struggling.

Start and End Dates: Group Size: 1 Time Commitment: Weekly or Monthly Times: 4:30pm-5:30pm Day(s) of week: Negotiated at time of hire Location: Fort Stanton Recreation Center [su_spoiler title="Learn More & Apply"]Tutors are needed for:
