As many of you know, it was about a year ago that we suddenly lost our beloved ED Bernie McGrath. When this happened we immediately surrounded FAN staff and youth with opportunities for sharing, expression, and most importantly healing. Whereas this loss was difficult to process, the FAN community was able to support each other during this time and beyond and truly display the meaning of Akoma Ntoaso = Linked Hearts.
In honor of Bernie, we will be hosting a memorial event Sunday May 7th, 2017 at the Applebee’s restaurant in College Park, MD. All persons who bring in this flyer and present it to the server before ordering your food, 20% of the table bill will go directly back to FAN’s program and kids. All flyer proceeds will begin at 11:00am and last all day, so feel free to drop by anytime after 11am.
Bernie’s parents tell the intimate story that Bernie’s heart and soul were with the kids at FAN and he found a Fihankra (Safe Place) where he could grow professionally and personally. We endeavor to continue his legacy of providing the best and most professional care for FAN kids and staff. We certainly couldn’t do this without your support. Please consider coming to our Memorial Event on May 7th, in honor of Bernie and enjoy a delicious meal while the proceeds go directly back FAN programs. More than anything, it will be a time for our community to reflect one more time on the impact one life can make.
